Dada 5000’s loss to Kimbo Slice nearly cost him his life.

An exhausted Dada 5000, whose real name is Dhafir Harris, collapsed in the third round Friday night at Bellator 149, giving Kimbo Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, a TKO victory. The result soon seemed so minor in the grand scheme of things, though, as Harris’ heart literally stopped at a nearby hospital following the fight, according to Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter.

Fortunately, Harris survived the health scare and is recovering nicely, according to a statement released Saturday by the fighter’s family. Questions now center on whether Harris should have been cleared to fight, seeing as how he needed to drop considerable weight leading up to the bout.
