The Boston Bruins’ 2016 trade deadline was notable both for what happened and what didn’t happen.

The Bruins acquired defenseman John-Michael Liles from the Carolina Hurricanes and forward Lee Stempniak from the New Jersey Devils on Monday while also keeping winger Loui Eriksson, who had been the subject of trade rumors in recent weeks with free agency looming.

It was tough to pinpoint what the Bruins would do leading up to the deadline, seeing as how Boston’s season has been a Jekyll and Hyde act. But the B’s clearly believe they can contend this season, hence their decision to add rather than subtract.

Bruins general manager Don Sweeney is scheduled to address the media at 5 p.m. ET at TD Garden. Check it out in the video player above.
