Tom Brady is a fiery competitor on the football field. His former teammates know that better than most.

New England Patriots Hall of Famer Willie McGinest stopped by Radio Row and caught up with NESN.com’s Michaela Vernava to talk about the quarterback and how much it must be killing him not to be playing in Super Bowl 50.

“I think every player on the team knows that they had the opportunity to be here, not just Tom. But Tom is the ultimate competitor, and it’s winning a Super Bowl, and everything else is not acceptable when it comes to Tom,” McGinest explained. “I know he’s highly competitive. He competes and puts a lot of work into the season to get to this point, to get his one game from it. He loves to win, he loves the sport, he sets off his personal life for this — like a lot of guys do.”

McGinest, now an NFL Network analyst, also chatted about the development of Patriots linebacker Jamie Collins and just how good the Carolina Panthers linebackers are. You can check out the highlights in the video above, or catch the extended interview on NESN’s YouTube page.
