UPDATE (1:10 p.m. ET): Boston Bruins center Ryan Spooner (undisclosed injury) and defenseman John-Michael Liles (lower body injury) will not travel with the team to New Jersey for Boston’s Tuesday night matchup with the Devils, head coach Claude Julien announced after practice Monday.

“I don’t know if you want to label (Spooner) as day to day right now, but he’s not making the trip,” Julien said. “Neither is Liles. Liles skated (Monday morning) and is getting better, but those two guys won’t be making the trip.”

Spooner, Liles and winger Brad Marchand all missed practice. Julien said Marchand was feeling “a little under the weather” and is expected to play against the Devils.

Julien also said the team isn’t planning on recalling any players from Providence ahead of Tuesday’s game. Winger Loui Eriksson is the most likely candidate to replace Spooner as Boston’s third-line center, if the Bruins don’t make a roster move.

“You saw Loui at center (during Monday’s practice),” Julien said. “Loui’s very capable of doing that. And we’ll see where we go from there.”

ORIGINAL STORY: WILMINGTON, Mass. — The Bruins were down a pair of top-nine forwards Monday morning as they returned to practice at Ristuccia Arena.

Top-line winger Brad Marchand and third-line center Ryan Spooner both missed the session, which came two days after Boston’s 3-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Spooner played Saturday but missed the entirety of the third period with an undisclosed injury. Marchand logged 19:51 of ice time, the second-most among Bruins forwards behind David Krejci.

Defenseman John-Michael Liles also sat out practice after missing Saturday’s game with a lower body injury.

The Bruins, who have just six regular-season games remaining, visit the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night.
