Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino: Ronda Rousey Has ‘Weak Mind’ To Consider Suicide

Ronda Rousey’s admission last month that she contemplated suicide following her UFC 193 loss to Holly Holm has been met with sympathy from some and skepticism from others.

Cris “Cyborg” Justino is in the latter camp.

“I think it’s weak mind, you know? Because when you fight, you can lose, you can win,” Cyborg told TMZ Sports this week. “It’s a sport. You cannot think you want suicide because you lose one fight.”

Cyborg’s comments come on the heels of UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate, who defeated Holm at UFC 196 on Saturday night, calling Rousey a “broken woman” and wondering whether she’ll ever return to the octagon.

Cyborg obviously wasn’t as critical, but it’s clear that Rousey’s response to losing for the first time has some fighters shrugging their shoulders, even if it’s understood that suicidal thoughts aren’t to be taken lightly.

Holm also provided a rational response last month when asked about Rousey’s suicide comments, suggesting it would go against her own competitive spirit to apologize for putting Rousey into a depressing state by virtue of winning at UFC 193.

“Some people handle it better than others,” Cyborg said of losing.
