For a brief period this NFL offseason, it looked as though Victor Cruz might not return to the New York Giants, the club he’s been since being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2010.

But, after Cruz missed most of 2014 and all of 2015, the wide receiver and the Giants recently restructured the remaining three years of his contract in a way that worked for both sides. Cruz explained on Uninterrupted that making a deal work wasn’t all about money.

“I just think back to going through that process and just understanding this is a big decision for me, my family, my mom, everyone that’s involved,” Cruz said. “It was a huge decision, and I had to weigh a lot of that on my mind. I knew that New York is for me. New Jersey is for me. It’s the place where I grew up. It’s home. I understood that, and I understood that it’s bigger than just football. It’s bigger than just me, it’s bigger than just the Giants. It’s about the fans, it’s about the people.”

Cruz also said he’s looking forward to working with new head coach Ben McAdoo. You can hear everything he had to say in the video above.
