The Atlanta Braves visit Fenway Park on Wednesday night to play the Red Sox, and if you know your Boston baseball history — and thanks to the all-new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, you will — you’ll realize this really is a homecoming.
The franchise’s existence started in 1876, when it was named the Boston Red Stockings and played in the South End Grounds. Name changes to the Beaneaters (1883-1906), Doves (1907-10) and Rustlers (1911) followed, before Braves was adopted in 1912. A brief switch to the Bees happened from 1936 to 1940, but the Braves moniker returned in 1941 and has stayed with the franchise since — even while its home city changed twice (to Milwaukee in 1953 and to Atlanta in 1966).
