David Price Makes Promise To Red Sox Nation Amid Shaky Start To Season

Listen up, Boston Red Sox fans. David Price has a small request.

Price, who signed a seven-year, $217 million contract over the offseason, realizes he hasn’t performed up to expectations through four starts with Boston, but he desperately wants to win over his new fan base.

The left-hander asked for Red Sox Nation’s continued support Friday, one day after he allowed eight runs on eight hits and two walks over 3 2/3 innings as Boston lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 12-8 at Fenway Park.

Price is 2-0 but owns a 7.06 ERA so far this season after Thursday’s implosion. He’s had two good starts and two bad starts. The 30-year-old is a five-time All-Star and a Cy Young Award winner, though. Perhaps a little time is all he needs to get going.

The drive to succeed certainly is there.
