We could say that Johnny Manziel will grow up and actually become a good NFL quarterback. We also could say that unicorns exist, pigs can fly and the Cleveland Browns someday will win a Super Bowl.
But let’s do none of the above. Instead, let’s focus on the facts, which are these: Manziel is out of control, and he’s adding to the negative perception attached to him each and every day.
Manziel’s interesting offseason continued Sunday when he posted a couple of Instagram photos that suggest his mind still isn’t on football despite him being without a job.
First, he posted a photo of him alongside Justin Bieber, who apparently has dreadlocks nowadays. Whatever.
Then Manziel tossed up a photo of him getting a hand tattoo, which, like the Bieber photo, isn’t really a big deal until you consider the downward spiral the free-agent quarterback has been on since being drafted by the Browns in the first round in 2014.
Look, Manziel can have a life off the field. Heck, he can even do a little partying here and there, so long as he’s taking care of business between the lines.
The problem is Manziel doesn’t seem to care. And it’s going to be awfully hard for him to land an NFL gig, let alone succeed on the gridiron, if he doesn’t make some changes — changes that probably don’t include hanging out with a dreadlocked Biebs or getting strange hand tats.
