Milan Lucic Spears Someone (Again), Called For Slashing In Kings’ Win Over Sharks

Milan Lucic can’t help but put his hockey stick where it doesn’t belong.

The Los Angeles Kings forward speared an opponent in the midsection Monday night in Stanley Cup playoff game against the San Jose Sharks.

Lucic actually got a little lucky, as he was called for slashing — not spearing — despite appearing to spear Kings defenseman Justin Braun.

Lucic has shown in the past he’s not afraid to get a little carried away with his stick. In 2014, he speared Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin. Not long after that, Lucic speared Detroit Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser in the groin.

Lucic’s slashing penalty Monday was his second of the series. He took a charging penalty in Game 2, a penalty that came back to bite the Kings, as Logan Couture scored a power-play goal with Lucic in the penalty box.

Luckily for Lucic and the Kings, his poor decision-making didn’t cost the team Monday. Los Angeles killed off the penalty and eventually won the game in overtime.
