The reigning NBA champions will have to play without their best player Monday night.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will miss Game 2 of the team’s first-round NBA playoff series with a right ankle injury. Golden State made the big announcement shortly before tip-off at Oracle Arena.

Curry suffered the ankle injury late in the first half of the Warriors’ 104-78 win in Game 1 on Saturday. He tried to go through his normal routine despite missing Monday’s morning shootaround, but he appeared to show discomfort and went into the locker room after roughly five minutes, according to ESPN.

Shaun Livingston will fill in for Curry in the starting lineup.
