Tigers’ Tyler Collins Flipping Off Booing Detroit Fans Wasn’t A Great Idea

Detroit Tigers outfielder Tyler Collins pulled a Jack McDowell on Monday night.

Collins is in hot water after he reacted in about the worst way possible to hearing boos from the home fans. The 25-year-old outfielder lost a fly ball in the lights Monday night, but that’s not the real issue.

Tigers fans booed the gaffe, and Collins responded in a pretty awful way by giving Detroit the one-figured salute. Collins was a head of long hair away from being a Kid Rock lyric, as he flipped off Tigers fans and appeared to mouth some pretty awful things to the Comerica Park crowd.

To Collins’ credit, he did face the music after the game and spoke to reporters, admitting what everyone already knew: He momentarily lashed out, he overreacted, and he’s sorry for doing what he did.

Needless to say, Collins’ next at-bat in front of the home crowd will be an interesting one.
