Tom Brady Wishes Kasper Schmeichel, Leicester City Luck In Premier League Title Chase

Add Tom Brady and the New England Patriots to the Leicester City bandwagon.

The Patriots quarterback offered Kasper Schmeichel and his Leicester City teammates encouragement Friday as the Foxes close in on the 2015-16 Premier League title. They top the standings by seven points with just five games remaining, and Brady appeared appeared on British television network Sky Sports to wish the Leicester City goalkeeper luck.

Who knew Schmeichel was such a big Patriots fan or that Brady was following Leicester City’s pursuit of glory?

At the start of the season, we picked Leicester City to suffer relegation from the Premier League. Instead, Claudio Ranieri has led Schmeichel and Co. to the brink of a championship, which would be among the most improbable triumphs in the history of English soccer and world sports.

Tom Brady has led the Patriots to four Super Bowl victories, but his first — Super Bowl XXcVI in 2002 — was one of the biggest upsets in NFL history. Perhaps he recognizes the looks in the success-hungry Foxes’ eyes.

Leicester City last Sunday clinched qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. But that moral victory won’t satisfy their fans, new and old, from near and far, at this fateful stage of the dream season.
