Philadelphia Flyers goalie Steve Mason was making excellent saves throughout the opening 22 minutes of Game 2 of his team’s first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Washington Capitals on Saturday night.

And then it all fell apart.

Mason allowed one of the worst goals in playoff history when Caps forward Jason Chimera sent in a shot from the red line that found the back of the net. The goal gave Washington a 2-0 lead early in the second period.

The puck wasn’t rolling and it wasn’t traveling particularly fast, making it a really strange goal.

The Capitals won 4-1 to take a 2-0 series lead.
