The Chicago Blackhawks staved off playoff elimination Thursday night. On Friday, the Los Angeles Kings will try to do the same.
The Kings trail the San Jose Sharks three games to one entering Game 5 of their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series. L.A. missed the postseason in 2015 but reached at least the Western Conference finals in each of the previous three seasons, winning it all in 2012 and again in 2014.
The Sharks, meanwhile, have been eliminated by the Kings in each of their last two playoff series — the first round in 2014 and the conference semifinals in 2013 — both of which went the full seven games.
