The New York Yankees will need to wait another day to begin their 2016 season.

Monday afternoon’s Opening Day game between New York and the Houston Astros at Yankee Stadium was postponed due to rain. The contest will be made up Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. ET.

The Yankees wasted little time in cancelling Monday’s season opener, as the forecast called for inclement weather for much of the day. The team called off the game at around 8:30 a.m.

Dallas Keuchel and Masahiro Tanaka were scheduled to start Monday for Houston and New York, respectively. Tuesday had been a scheduled off-day for both teams.
