2016 Kentucky Derby Prediction: Nyquist A Good Bet At Churchill Downs

The 2016 Kentucky Derby is Saturday and Nyquist is the favorite to win horse racing’s most famous event.

Nyquist has his doubters, but there are plenty of reasons why he’s the betting favorite at +200 as of early Saturday afternoon.

First of all, he’s a perfect 7-0 (including two wins in 2016) and already has earned more than $3.3 million in his young career. He also will have an experienced jockey riding him in Mario Gutierrez, who won this race with I’ll Have Another in 2012. Gutierrez does a tremendous job making up ground after poor starts or difficult post positions.

Nyquist also has proven he can beat Exaggerator, who features the second-best odds for this year’s Derby. Nyquist edged him out at the San Vicente Stakes-G2 back in February.

If you’re still not convinced Nyquist is the best bet for the Derby, consider he drank from the Stanley Cup on Saturday. A lot of champions have drunk from that legendary cup.
