Bartolo Colon’s home run is the gift that keeps on giving.

The New York Mets right-handed pitcher shocked the baseball world Saturday night when he became the oldest player in Major League Baseball to hit his first career home run. The 42-year-old big fella got a hold of a James Shields pitch and drove it over the left-field fence at Petco Park in San Diego.

Colon’s home run was well received by everyone — well, just about everyone — and a few days later, the big fly won’t die. Among all the tributes is one fantastic mashup of Colon’s round-tripper and the final home run scene from the famous baseball movie “The Natural,” starring Robert Redford. When you put the two together, it’s hard to deny the similarities.

We’re not sure if Colon was swinging his own version of Wonderboy, but when you go back and look at the actual scene from “The Natural,” it’s obvious he’s basically a modern-day Roy Hobbs.
