Saturday was supposed to be a great day for horse racing with the 2016 Preakness Stakes setĀ for 6:45 p.m. ET at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
Unfortunately, the day began with a very sad event.
Homeboykris, a nine-year-old horse who won the first race of the Preakness schedule Saturday, died of an apparent heart attack shortly after leaving the winner’s circle.
Former New York Yankees manager Joe Torre is part of the group that owns Homeboykris. The horse earned over $1 million in winnings during his career.
