Roger Goodell has been known to take things away from NFL teams, but apparently he’s also capable of giving.
The NFL commissioner recently announced at the 2016 NFL Draft that the New York Giants had selected Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple with the 10th overall pick. It was a special moment for Apple and his mother, Annie, whose tweets have garnered her plenty of attention over the last few days.
Apple’s mother even penned a special story for Sports Illustrated about her son’s draft experience, but her story revealed the event’s one apparent oversight.
“There was a wonderful welcome reception for the family, though whomever planned the event forgot to include desserts,” Annie wrote, via SI.com. “This is what happens when skinny women rule the world: they forget the chocolate. Clearly the commissioner owes me a brownie.”
Ask, and you shall receive.
Goodell’s tasty delivery also came with an email from NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy to Tim Apple, Annie’s husband.
“Just a head’s up to be on the look out for a delivery of brownies today,” the statement read, via ESPN.com. “The Commissioner was aware of Annie’s disappointment in the lack of desserts at the Draft in Chicago and wanted to make up for it.”
Annie’s word clearly carries some clout with Goodell. Maybe Tom Brady and the New England Patriots can enlist her in their ongoing battle with the commissioner over Deflategate.
