It’s amazing to think it’s been 30 years since the Boston Red Sox won the American League pennant and came within one strike of defeating the New York Mets in the 1986 World Series.
The 1986 Red Sox, who are widely considered one of the greatest teams in franchise history, will be honored during a pregame ceremony Wednesday night before Boston faces the Colorado Rockies at Fenway Park.
A whole bunch of players from the ’86 team are expected to attend Wednesday’s festivities, which undoubtedly will be special, especially for those with fond memories of the hard-fighting squad.
