Darren McFadden Apparently Broke His Elbow Trying To Save Cell Phone

An unofficial fumble will cost Darren McFadden some time.

McFadden underwent surgery for a broken right elbow Tuesday. The Dallas Cowboys running back suffered the injury in an accident at home over Memorial Day weekend, according to head coach Jason Garrett, who added that McFadden is expected to miss a couple of months.

Garrett didn’t reveal the exact details of McFadden’s accident while speaking with reporters. Another Cowboys coach apparently had no problem spilling the beans to The Dallas Morning News, though, and the alleged incident sure makes McFadden look like a dummy.

McFadden, who was drafted fourth overall by the Oakland Raiders in 2008, is coming off a season in which he rushed for 1,089 yards — his first 1,000-yard campaign since 2010-11 — and three touchdowns while averaging 4.6 yards per carry.

But the Cowboys still signed veteran running back Alfred Morris and drafted Ohio State standout Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick in this year’s draft, so McFadden can ill afford to miss too much time as he looks to retain a starting job with Dallas.

Next time, McFadden should just let his calls go to voicemail.
