Nate Robinson was serious about playing in the NFL.

The 32-year-old ex-NBA guard worked out for the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, two sources told The Washington Post’s Master Tesfatsion and Mark Maske. The Seahawks aren’t likely to sign Robinson after the tryout, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, but they’ll keep in contact with him “down the road.”

Robinson told ESPN’s Kevin Pelton in April that the New England Patriots also called him.

“I’ve heard from a couple of scouts,” Robinson said. “I talked to a scout from the Seahawks about the possibility of working out. Calls from a couple of other teams — the Patriots, I know a guy from the Cardinals. So just trying to get my name out to see if I can get a workout. We’re definitely going to try to do that once I get back home (from playing basketball in Israel).”

The 5-foot-9, 180-pound former Boston Celtic played cornerback as a freshman at the University of Washington. He notched two interceptions and six kick returns for 103 yards in 13 games before hanging up the cleats to focus on basketball. He would become the first NBA player to also suit up in the NFL if he earned a spot on a roster.

Robinson finished his 11-year NBA career with 6,807 points. He played on eight different teams — the New York Knicks, Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Pelicans.
