The 2016 NFL season gets closer with each passing day, but there’s one thing fans won’t be able to look forward to: roasting Mike Carey every time he gets a call wrong on the CBS broadcast.

The network is letting go of its NFL rules analyst after two seasons, the New York Daily News’ Bob Raissman reported Saturday. The decision reportedly was mutual, according to The Big Lead.

Carey was a respected official during his 13 years as an NFL referee, but his performance on the CBS broadcasts fell flat. He often was wrong when Jim Nantz and Phil Simms cut to him before the referees made their calls, and he didn’t really have the ability to explain rules clearly and concisely on live television.

Raissman said it was unlikely that CBS would go looking for another former official, as finding one who can live up to someone like FOX’s Mike Pereira would be difficult.
