The Boston Celtics are among a handful of NBA teams lucky enough to have a face-to-face meeting with highly coveted free agent Kevin Durant, and that meeting will come Saturday in the Hamptons, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.

It’s unclear who will represent the Celtics at the meeting, though it seems like a safe assumption that president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and owner Wyc Grousbeck will be in attendance. It’s possible that guard Isaiah Thomas could be there, too, although he wouldn’t tip his hand in an interview Thursday with 98.5 The Sports Hub.

“I’m supposed to talk to Danny (on Thursday) and see what the plan is,” Thomas said on “The Toucher and Rich Show” on Wednesday. “But I’m ready for whatever he needs me to do.”

Thomas also said he has started the recruitment process with some informal talks, during which he tried to sell Boston to Durant. The Celtics need all the help they can get, as they’re going up against some of the NBA’s biggest powers. A return to the Oklahoma City Thunder might make the most sense for Durant, but teams such as the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat also are in the mix for the former NBA MVP.
