A five-run lead for any team in the eighth inning usually is enough, especially for the Texas Rangers, who have the second-best record in Major League Baseball this season. But the New York Yankees made sure that wasn’t the case Wednesday night.

The Yankees got one back in the bottom of the eighth inning on a Brian McCann home run, and then they proceeded to score six more runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk off with a 9-7 win at Yankee Stadium.

So how did they do it?

Well, Brett Gardner started the ninth-inning rally with a single that eventually plated a run after a Texas error, and McCann tied things up with his second homer in as many innings.

And the hero turned out to be Didi Gregorius, who hit a walk-off two-run homer run.
