Adam Lind isn’t having the best season for the Seattle Mariners, but when you’re mentioned in the same sentence as David Ortiz, you’re doing something right.
Lind played the role of unexpected hero Monday for Seattle, coming on as a pinch hitter with two outs in the ninth inning and blasting a walk-off, three-run home run to give the Mariners a shocking 4-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.

The homer was Lind’s 14th of the season and raised his batting average to .230. But amazingly enough, it wasn’t the first time this year he hit a game-ending three-run homer, as the 33-year-old accomplished the same exact feat against the St. Louis Cardinals on June 24.
After Monday’s heroics, Lind now shares a record with one of the greatest clutch hitters of all time.
Ortiz, who has 11 career walk-off homers to his name (in the regular season alone), came up clutch twice in the span of just over a month in 2006. First, the Boston Red Sox slugger blasted a three-run homer to beat the Texas Rangers on June 11.
A few weeks later, Big Papi stole a victory from the Cleveland Indians with another three-run shot on July 31.
Big Papi actually hit another walk-off homer (just a two-run bomb) on June 21 to finish with three, the most he’s ever hit in a single season. Your move, Adam.
