You think Houston Astros fans are excited about the Alex Bregman era?

The 22-year-old third baseman, considered one of baseball’s top prospects, made his major league debut Monday night, much to the delight of fans in Houston.

The Astros recalled Bregman before Monday’s game against the Houston Astros, and the LSU product was in the starting lineup against the New York Yankees, hitting sixth and playing third.

As Bregman walked to the plate for his first career at-bat, Astros fans stood and gave him a standing ovation. Bregman’s parents were in the stands to see their son’s debut, and Bregman’s father couldn’t believe what he was seeing and hearing from the Houston crowd.

Before the game, Sam Bregman couldn’t contain his excitement for his son’s debut, exclaiming, “I don’t think there’s ever been a better Monday in my life.”

Bregman went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, and the Astros lost 2-1, but we’re going to go out on a limb and say that didn’t take too much away from the night for Bregman — or Dad.
