This should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, but David Ortiz has made a lot of friends in Boston over the years.

Among those Ortiz has grown close with is Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester, who spent nearly a decade in Boston as the Red Sox slugger’s teammate and won two World Series titles alongside Big Papi as the team’s ace.

Ortiz and Lester both are in San Diego for Major League Baseball’s All-Star weekend as representatives for the American and National Leagues, respectively, and they got the chance to catch up at Monday night’s Home Run Derby.

Fortunately for all of us, Lester captured their reunion with an awesome photo of himself and his kids posing with “Uncle” Ortiz.

Just call him Big Tío.

That could be the last time the two meet up in uniform on the field, as Ortiz insists he’s retiring after this season. But Lester, like many other players around the league, isn’t convinced Big Papi is hanging them up after the incredible first half Ortiz put together.

“I still don’t 100 percent believe that this is it for him,” Lester said, via CSNNE.com. “But I’ll guess we’ll see come next spring training. I’m just happy for him. He’s been a part of this game for a long time and been the fact of this game for a long time. I’m sure that wears on you as a person and a family guy like he is.

“I’m sure he’s ready to go home, but like I said, I’ll believe it come next spring training.”
