Dejan Lovren is willing to sacrifice part of his image for the good of Liverpool’s kingdom.

The Liverpool defender offered LeBron James temporary use of his No. 6 jersey Wednesday. Lovren’s deference to King James came hours after the NBA superstar offered his services to Liverpool as a “walk on” during its upcoming U.S. tour.

Liverpool will play Chelsea on July 28 in Pasadena, Calif., and AC Milan on July 31 in Santa Clara, Calif., as part of the International Champions Cup. The Reds will face AS Roma on Aug. 2 in St. Louis, Mo., before returning to England.

Lovren seems willing to do without the No. 6 jersey for a week.

As long James returns No. 6 to the Croatian defender has it back by Aug. 14 — when Liverpool plays Arsenal in their Premier League opener — there’s nothing wrong with the gesture.
