Could world-class midfielder Paul Pogba return to the Premier League club he once played for?

Sky Sports reported Thursday that “Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward has begun negotiations in the last 48 hours that could see Paul Pogba return to Old Trafford in a world-record deal worth £100 million (about $129 million).”

Pogba and France take on Germany in the semifinal of Euro 2016 at Stade Velodrome on Thursday.

The French star left Old Trafford following the 2011-12 campaign after not receiving regular playing time under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson. He has spent the last four seasons with Serie A (Italian first division) club Juventus, with whom he’s scored 34 goals in all competitions, in addition to playing rock-solid defense.

If Pogba does go to United, it would be the first major transfer splash for manager Jose Mourinho during his brief Manchester tenure.
