Minnesota United Goalkeeper’s Comical Own Goal Is ‘Hall Of Shame’ Worthy

Sammy Ndjock must be thankful no points were at stake when he became an Internet sensation.

The Minnesota United goalkeeper scored one of the worst own goals in recent memory Wednesday in his team’s 4-0 exhibition loss to Premier League club Bournemouth. Minnesota already was trailing 1-0 when Ndjock’s attempted throw slipped from his grasp and bounced embarrassingly into his own goal.

These types of things can happen over the course of a soccer player’s career. They usually don’t.

Let’s hope for Ndjock’s sake that he leaves blunders like these behind when Minnesota ascends from the NASL to Major League Soccer next season as an expansion team.
