Dustin Pedroia1If you’re a fan of the Boston Red Sox or Chicago Cubs, chances are you’re quite pleased with the 2016 Major League Baseball All-Star rosters.

The Red Sox and Cubs will combine to send a whopping 13 players to San Diego for the Midsummer Classic on July 12, with Boston starting four players for the American League and five Chicago players getting the start for the National League.

But there always will be controversy whenever there’s a vote involved, and this year’s All-Star rosters are no exception. Several deserving players won’t be traveling to San Diego, including one of the AL’s most prolific home run hitters and a pair of overachieving Pittsburgh Pirates outfielders.

Even the Red Sox can argue one of their players got the short end of the stick.

One more player for each squad will be added via MLB’s Final Vote, but before that happens, let’s take a look at five players from each league who deserve a ticket to sunny San Diego.
