NBA Rumors: Kevin Durant Tells Clippers He Won’t Sign Free-Agent Contract With Them

The Los Angeles Clippers made an attempt to sign Kevin Durant, and the superstar free agent reportedly was “blown away” by the presentation they made.

It wasn’t enough to seal the deal, though.

This news came after the Clippers reportedly agreed to contracts with guard Austin Rivers and swingman Wesley Johnson, both of which eliminated potential salary cap space to use for Durant.

The Clippers always were a long shot to acquire Durant anyway. He would’ve had to take less money to join the Clippers if they didn’t trade one of their three stars — Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.

Durant met with the Boston Celtics on Saturday and is set to meet with the Miami Heat on Sunday. He reportedly will make a decision on which team he’ll play for by Monday morning.

The Okklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors also are in the running for Durant.
