Mike Conley is commonly referred to as the most underrated player in the NBA. Now he owns the richest contract in league history.

The Memphis Grizzlies point guard agreed to a five-year, $153 million deal to remain with the only team he has ever played for, according to multiple reports Friday.

Conley’s new deal, which averages $30.6 million per season, slightly edges out Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard’s $151.8 million contract extension signed last summer that takes effect this coming season.

Conley, 28, was drafted fourth overall by Memphis in 2007. He has never made an All-Star game, and he hasn’t played in 80 games or more in a season since 2012-13.

Conley’s “richest contract ever” status is just a formality. Stephen Curry (Warriors), LeBron James (Cavaliers), Kevin Durant (Thunder) and Blake Griffin and Chris Paul (Clippers) all are candidates to break that record next summer in free agency.
