It was July 13, 1999 and Fenway Park was buzzing in anticipation for the 70th midsummer classic.
The buzz slowly turned into exultation when Boston Red Sox legend Ted Williams was wheeled out onto the field and honored by fans and players prior to the game for the ceremonial first pitch.
The feeling at the ballpark was electric, and why wouldn’t it have been?
Williams had returned to the ballpark that he had put a stamp on in countless ways — from the right field bullpens nicknamed “Williamsburg” to the lone red seat signifying the longest home run in Fenway’s history.
