After a trying week, Formula One CEO Bernie Ecclestone will now be able to relax and enjoy his summer break with his family.

Ecclestone’s mother-in-law Aparecida Schunck was rescued by Sao Paulo police and her kidnappers have been taken into custody, according to BBC News. Kidnappers abducted Schunck from her home in Sao Paulo, Brazil on July 22 and demanded a ransom of $36.6 million — the highest in Brazil’s history — but it was not paid.

Elisabete Sato of the Sao Paulo police told the BBC investigators discovered where Schunck was being held by tracing phone calls between the kidnappers and her family.

“I only ask for these bandits to be jailed so they can’t abduct anyone else in Sao Paulo,” Schunck said, via BBC News.

Police say when they found Schunck, she was tied up but had not been harmed.

Ecclestone reportedly wanted to fly to Brazil to assist authorities with the investigation, and offered to hire private security to apprehend the kidnappers. Police, however, told Ecclestone it would be best if he remained in the U.K., suggesting his presence could exacerbate the situation.
