MLB Trade Rumors: Carlos Beltran Drawing Interest From Red Sox, Others

New York Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran might not be playing the remainder of the 2016 season in pinstripes.

The 39-year-old veteran is drawing interest from several teams ahead of Monday’s 4 p.m. ET non-waiver MLB trade deadline. The Boston Red Sox, New York’s archrival, are among those teams, per FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman and ESPN’s Buster Olney.

Beltran is having a solid season for the Yankees, batting .304 with 22 home runs and 64 RBI in 99 games, but his real value comes with his postseason experience and success. He’s a lifetime .332 hitter with 16 home runs and 40 RBI in 52 postseason games.

The cost for the Red Sox to acquire Beltran might be higher than most because Boston is a division and historic rival, but it certainly would be a nice upgrade for a Sox lineup that’s already one of baseball’s best.

The last Red Sox-Yankees trade involved Stephen Drew going to the Bronx in 2014.
