The Montreal Canadiens added a little toughness by acquiring Andrew Shaw this offseason, and the agitating forward is wasting no time getting acclimated.
The Canadiens acquired Shaw from the Chicago Blackhawks in June, and in his first preseason game with his new team, Shaw looked to send a message.
As he’s known to do, Shaw walked the line of aggressive and dirty with a nasty-looking hit on Washington Capitals defenseman Connor Hobbs. The hit earned Shaw an ejection, and it also earned him a new dance partner.
Washington’s Nathan Walker challenged Shaw to a fight, and the Habs forward obliged. Shaw then showed a bit of showmanship, waving to fans in attempt to pump them up … in the middle of the fight, as he was being punched in the face.
Shaw earned a grand total of 30 penalty minutes for the entire ordeal and he could face further supplemental discipline in the form of a suspension.
In other words, the Andrew Shaw experience is in full swing in Montreal.
