Arian Foster Injury: Dolphins Running Back Out For Week 3 Vs. Browns

It took all of two weeks for injuries to become an issue for Arian Foster.

Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase revealed Friday that Foster won’t play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Foster is dealing with a groin injury suffered in Miami’s Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots.

Injuries are nothing new to Foster, who was plagued by several ailments during his seven seasons with the Houston Texans before signing with the Dolphins over the offseason. The 30-year-old won Miami’s starting running back job going into this season, though, so the Dolphins certainly hoped he’d stay on the field and produce at a level that earned him four Pro Bowl selections with the Texans.

Gase didn’t announce Miami’s Week 3 starting running back, but Jay Ajayi and Kenyan Drake likely will split most of the workload, with Isaiah Pead and Damien Williams perhaps involved, as well. None of the aforementioned Dolphins running backs should be considered an ideal fantasy option at this point, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Ajayi receive a bulk of the early-down work, making him a worthy flex consideration in deep leagues or if you’re really in need. The Browns’ run defense is shoddy, after all.
