Colin Kaepernick’s national anthem protest has gained traction across the NFL, with several players following in the San Francisco 49ers quarterback’s footsteps during Sunday’s Week 1 action.
Donald Trump isn’t a fan of this.
“I think it’s a lack of respect for our country,” Trump said Monday on “Fox & Friends,” per Yahoo! Sports. “I think it’s a lack of appreciation for our country, and it’s a very sad thing. I’ve never seen anything quite like it, actually.
“You know, you are talking about a major sport, maybe the major sport, and when you see that and it leads to a lot of other things. I think it’s a great lack of respect and appreciation for our country and I really said they should try another country, see if they like it better. See how well they’ll be doing. See if they are going to be making $20 million being a second-string quarterback.”
This isn’t the first time Trump has criticized the Kaepernick-driven protest, which the Niners quarterback said is to combat what he believes is the mistreatment of minorities in the United States. The Republican presidential candidate also ripped Kaepernick days after he first sat during the national anthem before a preseason game last month, saying the QB should find another country that works better for him.
