Anyone thinking the American League East isn’t the toughest division in baseball might think twice this October.
The Boston Red Sox currently lead the division with an 86-64 record, but the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays aren’t terribly far behind. Those teams actually are tied atop the AL wild-card standings, and if the season ended today, they’d battle each other for a spot in the American League Division Series.
But the Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners all might have something to say about it before the regular season is over, as all three sit within three games of one of those postseason spots.
