The Boston Red Sox’s resurgence largely has come on the backs of their budding young stars.
The list starts with All-Stars Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Xander Bogaerts, but there are several other youngsters contributing to this first-place team. Among those with the latest chance to shine are left-handed starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez and infielder Marco Hernandez, both of whom are starting Tuesday night in Baltimore.
Rodriguez, 23, has endured an up-and-down season plagued by inconsistency after an extended stint on the disabled list to begin 2016. He’ll look to rebound from a rough outing against the New York Yankees when he hits the bump against the Orioles. Hernandez, 24, is filling in for Dustin Pedroia and Brock Holt, who both have the night off.
NESN’s Dave O’Brien and Jerry Remy broke down the impact the kids have had on the club this season. Check out their thoughts in the video from “Red Sox Gameday Live” above.
