Peyton Manning Playing Quarterback For Patriots? Boomer Esiason Pitches Idea

It turns out the New England Patriots do have a bit of a quarterback controversy, although not the one you probably thought.

With Tom Brady out until the Pats’ Week 5 game against the Cleveland Browns because of his Deflategate suspension, backup Jimmy Garoppolo assumed the starting duties for New England. However, his future now is up in the air after he suffered a shoulder injury during the Patriots’ 31-24 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

New England still has Jacoby Brissett on the roster, but it likely needs to pick up another QB until Brady returns. Plenty of viable options are being thrown around, but one of the names mentioned by Boomer Esiason during a CBS segment after the game came out of nowhere.

Peyton Manning playing for the home team at Gillette Stadium? Seems like a bit of a stretch, to say the least. After all, he appears to be doing quite well for himself in retirement.

But you just know these calls are coming on Boston talk radio over the next two weeks.
