Bill Belichick is a man of his word.

After swearing off Microsoft’s Surface tablets last week in an epic five-minute diatribe — and surely ticking off a major NFL sponsor in the process — the New England Patriots head coach did indeed bring back the tried and true pen-and-paper system for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

If you recall, Belichick trashed the tablets for their lack of consistency and reliability, though his issues seemed to be as much with the NFL’s entire technology operation — he also had plenty to say about headsets and wireless connections — as with the equipment itself.

The Patriots won their first game of the post-tablet era, beating the Steelers 27-16 at Heinz Field to improve to 6-1 on the season.
