Forward Daniel Winnik didn’t come out of the Washington Capitals’ game Thursday in one piece.

During the Caps’ visit to the Florida Panthers, Winnik found himself on the ice while trying to block a Reilly Smith shot late in the third period. The puck ended up hitting Winnik on the side of the head, and it didn’t look good.

Winnik eventually returned after going to the locker room, but reporters found out from Capitals coach Barry Trotz after the game that the 31-year-old forward wasn’t all there. Literally.

The Capitals didn’t offer any information on what the next step for Winnik will be, so we guess he’ll just have to play it by ear.
