Welcome to the Boston Bruins, David Backes. And welcome back, David Pastrnak.

Backes and Pastrnak, both fresh off World Cup of Hockey appearances, made their preseason debuts Saturday, and both players came up big for the Bruins in their 4-3 shootout win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Pastrnak scored twice in the second and assisted on Boston’s other goal, which was scored by Danton Heinen in the first period. Backes also was credited with an assist on Heinen’s goal, and he had the primary helper on Pastrnak’s first goal.

Pastrnak did miss his shootout attempt after the game remained tied at 3 apiece after overtime, but Heinen and Jake DeBrusk scored theirs to give the Bruins the win.

Malcolm Subban was back in net for Boston, and he stopped 29 of the 32 shots he faced.

The Bruins will be back in action Tuesday when they face the Montreal Canadiens at Videotron Centre in Quebec City.
