FOXBORO, Mass. — Dion Lewis was not on the New England Patriots’ practice field with the rest of his teammates Wednesday.

Lewis (knee), who began the season on the physically unable to perform list, reportedly is expected to begin practicing this week, but his return didn’t come in the first session of Week 8. The Patriots also will practice Thursday and Friday.

Guard Tre’ Jackson also is on the PUP list and stretched with his teammates but went to a separate field during drills. His clock to come off the PUP list hasn’t begun.

The Patriots otherwise had perfect practice attendance. Defensive tackle Anthony Johnson, who was released from the 53-man roster Monday, has joined the team’s practice squad. Guard Chase Farris was released to make room for Johnson.

The Patriots still have an open spot on their 53-man roster.
