We’re into October, and that means you cannot afford to lose valuable fantasy football points because of terrible defensive performances.

With that in mind, here are five-must start defenses for Week 6.

Arizona Cardinals (vs. New York Jets)
The Jets have committed 13 turnovers, the second-most in the league. They also have scored an average of just 11 points over the last three weeks. Making matters worse for New York is it has to travel almost 3,000 miles to Arizona to play a very good Cardinals defense on the road. This has the potential to be a nightmare scenario for the Jets.

Denver Broncos (at San Diego Chargers)
The Chargers have committed 11 turnovers, which is tied for the third-most in the league. Their starting running back, Melvin Gordon, has lost three fumble over the last two weeks. Meanwhile, the Broncos defense has forced nine turnovers in five games, in addition to 15 sacks (fourth-most in the league). Denver, as usual, is a must-start defense.

Pittsburgh Steelers (at Miami Dolphins)
The Dolphins also have turned the ball over 11 times, and their offense ranks 24th in passing yards per game and 31st in rushing yards per game. Miami also is the fourth-lowest-scoring team at 17.6 points per contest and it ranks 31st in third-down conversions. The Steelers shouldn’t have too much trouble keeping Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill in check.

Buffalo Bills (vs. San Francisco 49ers)
The 49ers are one of the best rushing teams in the league with an average of 121.5 yards per game. Buffalo has a great run defense, however, and allows just 3.5 yards per carry. If the Bills shut down 49ers running back Carlos Hyde, they shouldn’t have a difficult time stopping a Blaine Gabbert-led passing attack, which averages less than 180 yards per contest.

Tennessee Titans (vs. Cleveland Browns)
The Titans are playing a Browns offense that has scored the fourth-fewest points per game and has injury issues with multiple quarterbacks. Tennessee also has held three of its last four opponents under 20 points.
