Fantasy Football Week 5 Waiver Wire: Five Must-Drop Players To Replace

One quarter of the fantasy football season is over — assuming your league ends after Week 16 of the NFL season.

That means it’s time to make tough roster decisions on underperforming players. Here’s a list of players to drop — or trade, if possible — entering Week 5, which begins Thursday night.

Marcus Mariota, QB, Tennessee Titans
Mariota is completing less than 60 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and five interceptions through four games. He’s also thrown for an average of just 207 yards with zero touchdowns and three interceptions in the last two games. Mariota is making almost no impact in the running game with 72 yards and zero scores in four games. It’s time to drop the former No. 2 overall draft pick.

Justin Forsett, RB, Baltimore Ravens
Forsett and the Ravens have parted ways, so it’s time to do the same on your fantasy team. The veteran running back averaged 3.2 yards per carry through three games with zero touchdowns, and his value in non-PPR leagues is minimal.

Chris Ivory, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Ivory has averaged 2.4 yards per carry with only one reception through two games. That’s not very good, and it doesn’t help the Jaguars usually are trailing by halftime, which forces them to abandon the running game and throw the ball often to catch up. T.J. Yeldon is the lone Jacksonville running back who should be owned (only as a flex play in deep leagues, though).

Sammy Watkins, WR, Buffalo Bills
Watkins has battled foot issues all year, and he wasn’t productive when he did play. He caught six passes for 63 yards with zero touchdowns in two games. Not only is his injury preventing him from seeing the field, it’s also limiting his effectiveness when he’s actually active.

New York Jets, Defense
The Jets are 1-3 and they’ve forced just two turnovers with the third-fewest sacks in the league. They’re also allowing 26.3 points per game, and that number could worsen after playing the high-powered Pittsburgh Steelers offense in Week 5.
